Ericsson Racing Team (STO:ERIC) COCHIN, India (Dec. 12, 2008) -Ericsson 3 and Ericsson 4 embark on Leg 3 tomorrow with the same crews that completed Leg 2.

Torben Grael's International crew on Ericsson 4 begins the leg as race leaders, and Anders Lewander's Nordic crew begins in fifth place, 11.5 points behind.

"We have won the first two legs, but they have been very hard fought," said Grael. "My impression is that the next (leg) will be even closer, because we are going to have light winds and in those conditions the boats are more even."

The upcoming leg promises light winds. The start has been rescheduled to 3:30 pm local in the hope of catching a late afternoon seabreeze to get the fleet moving down the coast of India. But once the sun sets, expect the boats to migrate towards the shoreline where they'll look for overnight winds off the land.

"I think it's going to be light getting out from here, mainly seabreezes," said Ericsson 3 navigator Aksel Magdahl. "Then the first boat into the new breeze has an advantage, so it's going to be import to push from the beginning."

Ericsson 4 goes into battle with the same lineup that raced Legs 1 and 2, including skipper Grael, navigator Jules Salter, watch captains Stu Bannatyne and Brad Jackson, trimmers Horacio Carabelli, Tony Mutter and Joao Signorini, pitman/boat captain Dave Endean, bowmen Ryan Godfrey and Phil "Blood" Jameson, and media crewman Guy Salter.

The Nordic crew, which brought cheers from the crowd with its unbridled enthusiasm at the Leg 2 awards ceremony, features the same crew that completed Leg 2, including skipper Lewander, navigator Magdahl, watch captains Richard Mason and Magnus Olsson, helmsmen Thomas Johanson and Eivind Melleby, trimmer Martin Stromberg, pitman Jens Dolmer, mastman Anders Dahlsjo, bowman Martin Krite and media crewman Gustav Morin.

The 1,950-nautical mile leg could take anywhere from nine to 11 days, depending on the average speed.

"Hopefully (we'll finish) before Christmas Day, to keep the families happy," said Ericsson 4 navigator Salter. "It's 2,000 miles, so if you can do 200 miles a day it should be 10 days. I'm sure there'll be some good days in there, but there'll be some slow ones as well."

VOLVO OCEAN RACE LEADERBOARD (After 2 of 10 legs) 1. Ericsson 4, 26 points 2. Telefónica Blue, 19 3. Puma, 18 4. Green Dragon, 16 5. Ericsson 3, 14.5 6. Telefónica Black, 13.5 7. Delta Lloyd, 7.5 8. Kosatka, 7.5
