Burleson Energy Limited (ASX:BUR) Fracture Stimulation Of The Heintschel #1 Well Brought Forward To 26 October 2010
Sydney, Oct 19, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Burleson Energy Limited (
ASX:BUR) is pleased to advise that a date for fracture stimulation (frac) of the Heintschel #1 well has been brought forward by one month. All necessary arrangements are now in place for the contractor, Weatherford, to undertake the frac on 26 October 2010.
The Heintschel #1 well is part of Burleson Energy's Colorado County project area in Texas. Burleson Energy and its partners are targeting Wilcox sandstones and started a drilling program in the area at the start of 2010. Heintschel #1 is one of three discoveries made by the program so far. It is already tied into the sales network so gas and condensate can be flowed immediately to sales.
The frac is designed to fracture the entire 72 meter thick gas saturated interval, but will be injected into a 2.5 meter interval of Wilcox reservoir sands that lie immediately above the previously tested sand section that flowed at up to 1.4mmcf/day. This sand package has been prepared for fraccing and the well is currently shut-in awaiting the arrival of the contractor. The frac, flow-back and clean-up process is anticipated to take one day to complete.
Following clean-up, the Heintschel #1 will be opened into the sales network while being monitored. Assuming a successful result, the joint venture then plans to focus on development of the broader Heintschel structure to assess and delineate resources and reserves.
As previously advised, operator AKG has assessed the contingent recoverable resources at Heintschel as follows:
---------------------------------------------------Category Potential Potential Number Recoverable Gas Recoverable Development (BCF) Condensate Wells (mmbc)---------------------------------------------------Low Case 25.6 0.465 4-8Mid Case 58.9 1.07 6-16High Case 87.7 1.6 12-24----------------------------------------------------
Burleson Managing Director Michael Sandy said the earlier fracture stimulation date is very good news for Burleson Energy as it will kick off an active few months for Burleson Energy and partners. Assuming a successful Heintschel 1 frac, two more wells will be brought on production (with Heintschel #1 and Joann #1 joining the existing producing Brasher #1 well) on top of a drilling plan that currently includes a Wilcox wildcat exploration well and a Heintschel appraisal/development well," he said.
