Leverkusen, 14 January 2009 - Biofrontera AG (ISIN: DE 0006046113) has placed a capital increase from authorized capital today and issued new shares against cash deposits.

In spite of the current market environment 331,000 new, registered shares could be placed with existing shareholders with a long-term investment perspective, strengthening Biofrontera's liquidity by about 500 T€. This issue of new shares increases the base capital of Biofrontera AG to 3,647,514 Euro.

To ensure further operations, additional financing is required and anticipated for the near future.
