The Swedish National Debt Office continues, as planned, to issue T-bills in extra auctions. The plan for the coming auctions looks as follows, including the previously announced dates for the ordinary auctions.

Note that the volumes are preliminary and can be adjusted if market conditions change.

The auction details will be published one day ahead of the extra auctions at 4.20 p.m. For the ordinary auctions, the details are announced one week ahead at the same time.

During December and January our borrowing requirement will increase. Then there is room for replacing the bills issued in extra auctions with bills issued according to the ordinary funding plan. In Central Government Borrowing - Forecast and Analysis 2008:3, we announced that the ordinary issues in December and January will be split so that they come more frequently. In January, we plan to hold four ordinary auctions. In addition, there will be extra auctions on 15 December and 19 January with the same settlement dates as the maturity date for the bills maturing in December and January.

To this date the Debt Office has issued about a net SEK 90 billion of T-bills in addition to our ordinary funding programme. The total outstanding volume is now SEK 160 billion including the extra T-bills. As of 4 February 2009, the T-bill stock will be about SEK 150 billion given the preliminary issue volumes.

The Debt Office will be able to issue extra T-bills also during the spring. However, it is too early to say anything about the need. We will communicate the supply of extra T-bills during January, based on our judgment of the need and a dialogue with the market.

We plan to continue investing the main part of the cash from the extra auctions in reverse repos in covered mortgage bonds.
