The Australian share market yesterday closed significantly lower as investors anticipated further drop in Europe and US. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 132.7 points, or 3.4 per cent, to 3723.4, while the broader All Ordinaries index declined 131.7 points, or 3.4 per cent, to 3710.8.

Yesterday Australian shares closed lower on concern about the health of US banks. The benchmark the S&P/ASX200 index fell 0.6%, or 23.3 points, at 3867.1, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 0.6%, or 22.1 points, at 3840.1.

South July-1 ST1 reached a final total depth of 3473 metres in the Yusr sands of the lower Rudeis Formation. As there were no hydrocarbon shows and electric logs indicate the reservoir objective Yusr Member to be water saturated, the well is being plugged and abandoned. Interests in the sidetrack are Beach Petroleum (Egypt) Pty Limited, 33.33% and Dana Petroleum (E&P) Limited, 66.67%.

The Australian shares ended higher yesterday on the back of some better-than-expected earnings reports. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose 35.7 points, or 1.1%, to 3448.9, while the broader All Ordinaries index gained 31.1 points or 0.9% to 3398.
